Bindi Irwin interview
daughter of the late Steve Irwin, Bindi Irwin already owns a multi million dollar empire as television star and actress but now she has her sights set on an even more important goal.
"I really am about making the world a better place. And, who knows, you may one day see me as prime minister or president."
The 11-year-old daughter of the late wildlife crusader Steve Irwin is the poster-child for Irwin Enterprises, a brand that includes her own television show, a Hollywood film, a clothing range, a series of books and numerous products emblazoned with her face.
But her meteoric rise into the spotlight since her father's death in 2006 has led many to question the motives of her mother, Terri.
"I'm not imposing my ideas," Terri tells the latest edition of Australian Women's Weekly, due in stores on Wednesday. "I'm simply teaching my kids to be goal oriented and to follow through. When Bindi started saying at a very young age that this was what she wanted to do with her life, I understood."
Terri said it was her and Steve's intention for their children, Bindi and six-year-old Robert, to run the business. "I'm very proud of the fact that I am not just shooting in the dark with all of this, but realising Steve's vision."
Even four years after Steve was killed, the family is still managing their grief.
Terri said Robert was more demonstrative. "Sometimes, after a shower, I'll find he has written, 'I miss Daddy', in the steam on the mirror."
